Mexico Travel
It won't be long before you're off to Mexico! I want to make sure you have all of the documentation you need for travel so you can be through customs and immigration as quickly as possible. Grab your passports and flight information and fill them out online to save yourself time at the airport.
Covid testing - Mexico does not require a Covid test for entry. The US does require a test for the return however. Most clients will take a Covid - 19 test approximately 3-5 days before arrival to Mexico (regardless of being vaccinated) so they know where they stand before traveling. When you arrive at the resort, it is recommended to get your Covid - 19 test scheduled for the way home. United States requires a negative Covid-19 test for your return. When you check into your resort please schedule this test. Some resorts are offering free or reduced testing. Your resort will schedule your test for you in time to meet the US requirements.
Mexico tourist card /immigration - This needs to be filled out for arrival. They will pass the forms out on the plane but you can do it at home and print it out if you don't want to have to dig through your bag on the plane for your passports etc. If you want to do it at home here is the link:
Health Questionnaire - They say it is needed for both arrival and departure but I haven't had anyone who was asked for it upon arrival. When you complete this form it generates a QR code that you show at the airport. Here is the link:
Tourist Tax - As of April 1, 2021 tourists to Quintana Roo (Cancun/Riviera Maya area) will be required to pay a tourist tax. This is approximately $11 per person after conversion. You can pay this in cash at the airport on your departure or you can pay it in advance online. Here is the link:
Update - 4/13/21 Those who have traveled recently are saying they haven't been asked to pay the tax or show proof that they've paid it so you might want to wait to do this at the airport.
None of these forms are required to be done in advance but I know once you arrive you will want to be on the way to your resort as quickly as possible. Please reach out if you have any questions.
Here is a diagram of the Cancun airport for arrival. Your trip includes transfers and the transfer people will always be outside of the airport. Do not stop in the timeshare area. They are very tricky and can make you think they are your transfer company and you'll end up paying for transfers again. Always follow the instructions included in your documentation.
